Twenty-six Years

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

That’s a long time, but in some ways it has been a short time. Today, my husband and I are celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary. I couldn’t even begin to list the amount of stuff we’ve lived through together during those years. But the one thing I can say is that I am glad I went through it all with him. I’d do it all again.

If you can see

If you can see a picture of my books on a shelf you know that I’ve learned to do something new on my computer. It has only taken a week and step-by-step instructions to accomplish it, but worth it if I manage to do it again. Have you learn any thing new about me? Like I’m computer scary. That would be Halloween scary.

Congential Heart Disease

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Friday I was on a panel of experts at a meeting of doctors and concerned professionals at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta working to help families who have children being born or have been born with congenital heart disease. I was amazed at the knowledge in one room. I told Nick’s story and how I had searched for information about others who had had a child like mine. Nick’s story was the longevity side of the experience. Nick has lived along time and is doing well, but the information present by the doctors reinforced just how fortunate that we are to still have Nick and how cutting edge his life still is.

All new mothers need to know about the possibility of congenital heart disease before their child is born. It is the number one cause of death in newborns.

My Books on a Shelf

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

I saw Nick’s New Heart on a book store shelf for the first time the other day. It was a thrill. There they were at eye level just as I came in the door. I had an ooo-ah moment. There set a dream come true. I wish for everyone who desires to be published that moment. When you do have it, please tell me so I may relive my own.

Book-a-thon

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Today, I went to Gainesville to participate in a book-a-thon. For twenty-four hours, every hour on the hour for an hour at the Hall Book Exchange someone was invited to read to anyone who wished to listen . A percentage of books  proceeds were donated to literacy. I was invited by Myra Meade who grew up with my husband. She has been very supportive of Nick’s New Heart . I jumped at the chance to be a part of the Book-a-thon. I enjoyed the day, and got the bonus of meeting new people, seeing the changing color of the trees and the opportunity to share my book. If you are ever in the Gainesville area stop in and say hi to Myra. Check out her books. She has thousands. You want be disappointed that you stopped.
