Wisdom Teeth

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Nick had his wisdom teeth out a few months ago. The idea of a nineteen year old having wisdom is almost laughable. Wisdom is something we think of that comes with age. I’m pretty sure any wisdom Nick might have gain in his few years of life was removed when his teeth were taken out.

It wasn’t until a few years ago that I learned the true meaning of wisdom and it source.  I had always thought wisdom came with age. Everyone received it by gaining knowledge of life as we grew older. For example I might go to a grandparent to get their wisdom on a matter. But wisdom is really only gotten through a personal relationship with God. It is given through him. You can gain knowledge by getting older, but wisdom comes with age and the knowledge of what God would do in any situation.

Proud of Carol

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Carol, a fellow romance writer, won another writing contest. She now has a total of three wins for the year. She also won The Maggie a few years back. I never thought I’d be as proud of someone or for someone outside of my family as I have been of her. She is SO close to being a published author. In fact, I’ll step out and say that I believe she’ll get a contract this year. When she does I will post the news and be the first one to encourage you to read her book. I can promise that the book will be great.

Carol Burnside, I’m so proud of you!

Pages Written

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

I got back from the coast feeling energized and proud of myself. I wrote 45 new pages. It shouldn’t be long before I’ll finish another book. As always, I wish I’d done more, but I also did some revisions on another book.  It is great to be around other writers because they always inspire you to move forward. I hope I can attend Hermit Week again next year.

Hermit Week

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

In some ways writers are hermits anyway but this next week I’m going on a writers hermit week. My time will be devoted to nothing but writing. I’m looking forward to it, but I’m also think my head is going to hurt after I spend a week working. We’ll see. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m off to write, write, write.

Voting

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Voting is one of the many special things that makes me proud to be an American. I believe in voting. I always have. Sometimes I’m not sure which is the best or the worst to vote for, but I always vote. You have to vote to have the right to complain. When my children were young I took them with me to vote. I had them go into the booth with me, (there were 5 of us in a small booth) and even let them do what they could to case my vote. This was my way of teaching them the importance of voting. If you live in America and you didn’t vote today-shame on you. Other countries beg for the right, and you pushed yours away. Voting is a right like no other. Your chance to make a difference.
