Surgery

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Nick had a blood transfusion and ran a fever yesterday but seem to do better when the blood was slowed down. He will be having surgery on Tuesday to repair the aorta. He had a fever again this evening. I would like for him to be fever free went he goes into surgery. Please keep us in your prayers.

Better day

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Nick had a better day today. Quite, no fever, eating well and good lab reports. Dr. Kanter did tells us that he would be replacing Nick’s aorta. Nick will be having scary surgery on Monday or Tuesday but  he seems to be in good spirits.  He says that he is in good hands, which he is and I hope be remains fearless, because his parents are afraid enough for him. Please say a prayer for him. We love him and don’t want to lose him.

Bad News

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Nick had to be admitted to the hospital last Thursday. He has been sick for sometime but the doctors nor I have me able to put a finger on what is wrong. Unfortunantly it has turned out to be endocarditis which is a fancy name for a horrible infection in the heart. We thought until last night at 8:00pm that Nick would have to have IV antibiotics for six weeks and go home on Wednesday. But that is not to be. Instead he has to have heart surgery to remove the infected area. He is going to be a sick kid for many more days. We have all cried. This time he is not a baby and neither are my other children. Nick has touched more lives making him being sick effect more people. Please say a prayer for our family.

Starting a New Book

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Today I started a new book. It reminds me of having a new baby. I didn’t know what the new baby would become which is much like my characters. They both evolve. It is exciting to start again and meet new and interesting people. I don’t think it will ever grow old. I hope not. I have a number of books I want to write.

Radio Interviews

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve done a few radio interviews. I have really enjoyed them and my interviewers have done a great job asking questions. They have seemed to be genuinely interested in what I’ve had to say and learning more about “Nick’s New Heart.” I hope I’m asked back soon. I will be doing one in Rome, GA on February 25. Tune in and hear how it goes.
