Summer Coming to an End

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

It is already starting. The end to the days off, not getting up early and doing what I want to. Nick asked for me to pay for his school this morning. High school starts next week. Drew starts his internship on Monday with the hope for graduation in December. Dance of joy for parents!!! Nick will go to class the next week. It is here. Just weeks later in the middle of getting use to the school schedual we will have a wedding. But I think I’m ready for that.

Still having Tech problems

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

After spending $60 to get help from Gateway support my lap top is still not letting me log in. I’ve already sent out my hate mail to Gateway. I don’t expect anything back that makes me feel better but maybe their customer service is better than I think. I’ m having to use another family member’s lap top which means that I often forget to post. I’m now writing myself a note to do so.

Nick visited the doctor last week for his platelet count. It is much better. Dr. Abshire thinks the low  platelet count was Nick’s body reaction to recovering from such a rough infection. We hope Nick is on the mend now. He will start school in a few weeks so he will be busy again. He is spending a lot of time running around with his friends.

I’m working hard on my next nonfiction book and have sent a partial off to a romance editor. I’m looking forward to great things in be future.

Back to work, and on to a Wedding

Monday, July 20th, 2009

I got back in town yesterday afternoon. I had a great trip to visit a friend for a few days and a wonderful experience at the romance writing conference. I got to pitch to an editor, and spoke to another about my work. There were interesting workshops, and inspirational speeches. I met a couple of well-known authors that like me had a child who was chronically ill. That can level any playing field fast. When I spoke to them I forgot they are the ones on the NY Best Selling List and treated them like mothers. I met a few new friends and got to say hello to some I’d met before.

Nick is staying in the road most of the time now. He wants to be out and gone all the time. I’ll be glad when school starts so he will have something to keep him busy. He did have a small infection at his pacemaker site but it is clearing up.

Reporting in

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

I’m in Washington DC for a romance writers conference. I’m having a great time. For those who know Brenda Novak, Nora Roberts, Eloisa James, Janet Evanovich, or Linda Howard these are just a few of the people I’m hanging out with.

Note on Nick. Platelet count was up to 125,000.!!!!!Great news. Cyco level was low so they went up on it a little. He will have blood work again next week.

Regular day

Friday, July 10th, 2009

We had a regular day today. I wrote, Zach went to work and Nick visited a friend. That was a friend, not a doctor, a hospital, or a lab. He got to be just a regular guy. He is feeling much better and seems to be enjoying life. I hope it keeps up.

Alex the transplant coordinator call Nick yesterday and was tickled to here the platelet count had gone up. Nick will have blood work again on Tuesday. I hope it show even more platelets. Nick wants to ride a rollercoaster and can’t do that until they get high enough.
