Ready for Spring

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I try not to wish my life away but I’m so ready for spring. The bitter cold makes me want to do nothing but curl into a ball in my bed and read a book. I enjoy yard work, especially after that initial Saturday where I work twelve hours to get things straightened out for the season. I hope to get something done tomorrow but it is going to be cold so I may wait.

Facial

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

I’ve been subbing for cosmetology classes the last four days of this week. Three classes are working on learning how to do facials. One of the girls asked if they could give me a facial. As I lay there enjoying being pampered, eyes closed, almost drifting off to sleep, I  thought, what if these girls are leaving one by one and I opened my eyes to find my class  gone. What am I going to tell Mr. Nelson  when he asks what I was doing when my class disappeared. ” I was having a facial.”

Better than I Thought

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

I took the 10 pages of my Teens in Tow proposal to critique late night. I had worked on them all day and wasn’t really hitting the mark I wanted to. I even worked on a section at home before leaveing for critique. I don’t like to do that because it doesn’t allow me the time to read over the material like I should. When it was read at the meeting it sounded better than I thought it would. I still have some work to do, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. I want to start send out queries soon so I need to have the proposal together. I surprised myself.

Making a Change

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

I’m re-working a proposal for my Teens in Tow book. I thought there would be nothing to it, but I’ve been surprised how much I have to change just because I’m going a different direction. I also thought it would be easy, but nothing worth while seems to be. Some of the material I’m able to keep but much of it has to go but I’m having a hard time letting go. I would have been better off scrapping the whole thing and starting from scratch. After some rewrites I hope to have what I need to interest a agent.

The Arts

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Saturday was all about the Arts. Early Saturday morning, along with my friend Claudia, we went to the Georgia Romance Writers meeting in Atlanta. The meeting was great and Seressia Glass the speaker had a lot of good information to share and she did it humorously.

Because we have started having Romance Writers meetings earlier I can now make the Atlanta Writers meeting. So by 1:15, Claudia and I were listening to two more speakers. One spoke on voice and the other of the power of writing to heal. They were both more interesting than I thought they would be and I plan to go back.

I finished off the day by going to the High Museum of Art to see the Di Vinci exhibit. It was the next to the last day to do so. It was worth the crowd and the trouble. Excellent in fact. I always learn something new about the artist when I go to the High. I just want waiting to the last days to go -too many people. I enjoy it more when I don’t have to look over and around other people. Try the High sometime if you’ve never been.
