I hadn’t thought that my job as a substitute teacher would be affected by the stress of the economy but I’m finding out that is not so true. Because people are looking for jobs, any job, they are turning to substituting. Therefore, there are more of them and less jobs for me. Most of my assignments are done between me and a teacher but I’m still having to pick some up of the computer system. That is where the problem lies. Other substitutes are snatching them up. I’m not used to fighting for work. Most of the time I’ve had to be more that one person during the day because there were not enough substitutes to go around. I guess I’m going to have to be more aggressive.
