One Year Ago Today

Friday, March 5th, 2010

At this time last year our family was already sitting in the surgical waiting room at Egleston. Nick was in getting his new aorta. I think is was the longest day of my life, Andy’s, Nick’s, the kids, Dr. Kanter’s and many more. I thank God everyday for saving Nick’s life. No one thought he would do as well as he did. Even Nick is awed by the fact that he is doing so well. My throat is tight just thing about that time. Andy asked not to talk about it. Our house knows how to value life. We know how precious it is. Thanks for all the love and prayers you have sent our way.

Questions

Yesterday I spoke to the mother of a child that is going to have heart surgery next month. She asked all the right questions. I’ve spoken to enough mothers over the years to know when one is going to be proactive about her child’s care. After reading Nick’s New Heart , and being asked which Doctor she wanted she picked Dr. Kirk Kanter to do the surgery. I know she made a wise choice, but I also know I’m heavily bias where he is concerned. I was wondering if I should ask Dr. Kanter for a commission?
